J Brand Maternity Brooke Boot Cut Jeans

I am lucky to have two older sisters that were recently pregnant who generously shared their maternity clothes with me.  It was a ton of fun sorting the bags, trying on clothes and thinking about the upcoming months.  Thanks Anne & Theresa!

The one thing I did decide to get new was some pants.  I wear jeans often and have heard lots of good things about the maternity jeans from J Brand, so when I saw they were on sale at Gilt.com, I quickly ordered a couple pairs.  The first pair to arrive were these Mama J Brooke Boot Cut jeans, which I have been wearing tons since they arrived.  Last week (at 19 weeks) was the last week when I could wear my regular jeans without a belly band.  These jeans have been so comfy I haven't even tried the belly band again.  I can't wait until the skinny jeans I ordered arrive!  I definitely recommend J Brand maternity jeans - especially if you can find them at Gilt.  With the Gilt price plus a special 2 day 20% off coupon, I ordered 3 pairs of jeans for $200, which is about the normal price for one pair.  The jeans are really comfortable with just the right amount of stretch, a higher raise in the back and elastic panels in place of the front pockets, plus the length is perfect.  I never wore J Brand jeans in the past, but based on how much I like these maternity jeans, I will definitely be looking to add a pair or two of regular J Brands after the baby comes!

Early Pregnancy Wedding Guest Attire

Jon and I went to one of his college friend's weddings this past weekend.  Since my bump is still on the smaller side I decided to wear this faux-wrap dress rather than a maternity dress.  Overall I liked how the ruching worked with my changing figure, although I wish the waistline was a smidge higher, which especially would have been nice after I ate dinner and my bump got a little bigger.  The long sleeves were good for the fall weather and this eggplant color fit in well with the other guests.  Most of the other female guests were in various shades of blue and purple.  I picked up this cute silver evening bag at the huge new Century 21 store in Philadelphia, which went well with my pave crystal bangles and earrings. Sometimes a new clutch or piece of jewelry is a fun way to bring some new life to an outfit without getting a whole new dress! If you're newly pregnant and looking for a dress, this style is a good one to look for when you're too small for maternity clothes but still want to camouflage a baby bump or a little belly.

Fall Baseball Cap

baseball cap, fall outfit

There's something so fun and casual about throwing on a baseball cap.  I loved the seersucker one I wore during the summertime (see it here) and I love this two-toned gray textured hat for fall.  I found it in the boys section at Marshall's but its adjustable so it fit me too.  I paired it with an open front cardigan, a big patterned scarf, boyfriend jeans, and comfy slip-ons.  Easy outfit for a fall brunch and travel day.  The oversized scarf and cardigan combo also works well for covering up the baby bump a bit during this transition period!

Blues & Boots

So I am firmly in the second trimester of pregnancy at nearly 18 weeks!  I have been thinking about how I want to incorporate my pregnancy into the blog.  I have really enjoyed reading bumpdates from other pregnant bloggers, so I am going to start doing those weekly or every few weeks.  I think it will also be a fun way for me to look back at this special time.

I'm still mainly in my regular clothes, but I started going through some of the maternity clothes that my sisters passed down to me.  I'm kind of in the weird transition phase of pregnancy where your getting bigger but don't look obviously pregnant yet.  I've been craving longer tops, so I wore this maternity top, although I'm not in love with the fit of it on me in these pictures with all of the ruching. I like how the blue-green color paired with the mustard coat and my favorite fall boots.

Halloween 2014 + Exciting News!

Jon and I are expecting our little one in April 2015!
Here's Jon and I at my sister's annual Halloween party this weekend!  Since I'm only about 4 months, I had to embellish my baby bump a little bit for the costume.  I went as a 50s housewife and Jon went as the mailman.  It was a fun and cheeky way to incorporate the pregnancy into the holiday!  We got a few good laughs and it was an easy costume to put together.  I got the idea from Pinterest, of course!

I'm looking forward to sharing more about the pregnancy in the coming weeks!

Here's a few more Halloween snaps:

With some of my fun family including: a tourist, Cleopatra, and Dr. Who!

My sister Jenn's cute circus costume, "Giggles!"
