Valentine's Day Kisses

So full disclosure, I don't love how these pictures turned out and probably wouldn't share them normally - if I didn't really want to get a post up of this adorable kisses dress! I snagged it a month or two ago during a sale at A Pea in the Pod and knew it would be perfect for Valentine's Day. I had grand plans to get outside to snap some outfit pictures, but it was a smidge too dark and way too cold so it had to be indoor shots! I am hoping the weather starts warming up so I can get back to taking pictures outside and posting more regularly before the baby comes in just about 8 weeks from now. I'm going to share a little baby update below!

32 Week Baby Bumpdate:
Feeling:  Good!  I really have been so lucky to have had such an easy pregnancy so far.  Aside from some heartburn and general discomfort as I have gotten further along, I really have had nothing to complain about.  The time has really been flying by so fast. It's hard to believe I'm in my 8th month already, but  I'm getting really excited  to meet our little man soon!
Cravings:  I haven't had too many really.  I usually just want really basic foods, like plain sandwiches or meat and veggies or chicken tenders.  I haven't wanted to cook really at all, so thankfully Jon is doing the cooking most nights.  I fill up really easily since my stomach is all pushed up, so I try to eat smaller meals and snack more frequently.
Maternity Clothes:  Pretty much exclusively now, aside from some stretchy tops and pants or PJs that still work.  As much as I have enjoyed being pregnant, I definitely have started to look forward to wearing normal clothes soon and getting my regular shape back.   I miss fitted waists and tucking shirts in.  I know that there will still be a transition period after the baby comes, plus I'll have the new challenge of finding clothes that work well with nursing.
Name:  We are working on it!  We started a list on Google Drive earlier in the pregnancy of baby name contenders, which we were adding to for a while, and now we have been slowly starting to narrow it down.  The list currently has 6 names, so hopefully we'll pick one of them soon!
Nursery:  The nursery is coming along!  It's painted a pretty, neutral yellow and we're mostly playing with the colors in the Pottery Barn Kid Brooks bedding that we chose.  So it'll be mostly blue and gray with an elephant/baby animal theme.  We're hoping to pick a rug before the crib and changing table/dresser are delivered in a few weeks.  I'll try to share the finished result in a blog post sometime in March!
Nesting:  Totally!  I have gotten bitten by the organizing bug.  I really just have this urge to get all of our cabinets and closet as organized as possible before the baby comes.  I am hoping if I have some systems in place, it'll be easier to keep things organized after the little one arrives and everything changes!  On that note, I have been seriously obsessed with the Dollar Tree.  They have such great stuff for organizing.  I am hoping to share some of my recent projects soon.  Jon also got me a label makers for my birthday a few weeks ago, so anything that can get a label has been getting a label.  I don't know how I made it 28 years before wanting one!
Baby:  According to the doctor, he is measuring right on track.  He definitely seems to be getting a lot bigger and stronger as the weeks go by.  His kicks are getting stronger and stronger.  I try and guess which body part he's using - like sometimes I'll feel his foot or hand up by the side of my rib cage while his head or butt is towards the front of my stomach.  It's especially fun when he's moving all around and I can see it and feel it.  That usually seems to be when I'm sitting or laying pretty still, especially at night before bed.

Sister Post: Red Dress Style

Jenn wore this cute red dress with black lace and zipper accents for Christmas Eve this year.  I think it also would have been a perfect look for New Year's Eve or any holiday party!  The subtle fit and flare style is universally flattering and the length is perfect. I love it with the touches of sparkle Jenn added with the cute heart pendant necklace and her silver hair clip.  The black tights and flats keep it casual for the family get together. It's a great dress that doesn't need much else to complete it!

New Year's Eve Maternity Style

Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood asked me to participate in a special collaborative post about maternity wear for New Year's Eve.  So I jumped at the opportunity to share a New Year's look!  Check out my outfit below and be sure to visit Ada, Lindsay, and Brooke's blogs to see theirs!  Ada also has an interview with each of us on her blog.  Check it out to get more pregnancy and maternity style info!

I love wearing heels and sequins on New Year's Eve!  This textured knit shimmery skirt is not maternity.  I bought it at Uniqlo a few years ago, but the stretchy knit works well with my baby bump.  I paired it with a festive red, silky blouse, a velvet blazer, and sequined evening bag.  I love how all the textures work together and add some interest to the outfit. I threw on a big necklace and hoop earrings for even more sparkle!

Merry Christmas!

I found this chic maternity shirt dress at A Pea in the Pod last weekend and I knew it would be perfect for our Christmas Eve celebration.  I paired it with my faux-pearl cluster earrings and necklace, black leggings, and my leopard print pumps.  Red, black, and leopard is a fun color combo for any holiday event!  Hope you all had wonderful Christmas days filled with love and celebrations!

Stripes & Texture

We're down in Hilton Head, SC this week for Thanksgiving with my in-laws.  It's been a little rainy but at least it's been warm!  We've been very casual and relaxed in our activities.  I pretty much only brought down jeans and tops for layering.  I wore this outfit for shopping and lunch in Old Town Bluffton.  We stopped in this really cute shop, Gigi's Boutique, and I picked up a really nice poncho, which is something that has been on my list for a while.  I am looking forward to sharing it on the blog soon!  I probably won't have another chance to blog so I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Halloween 2014 + Exciting News!

Jon and I are expecting our little one in April 2015!
Here's Jon and I at my sister's annual Halloween party this weekend!  Since I'm only about 4 months, I had to embellish my baby bump a little bit for the costume.  I went as a 50s housewife and Jon went as the mailman.  It was a fun and cheeky way to incorporate the pregnancy into the holiday!  We got a few good laughs and it was an easy costume to put together.  I got the idea from Pinterest, of course!

I'm looking forward to sharing more about the pregnancy in the coming weeks!

Here's a few more Halloween snaps:

With some of my fun family including: a tourist, Cleopatra, and Dr. Who!

My sister Jenn's cute circus costume, "Giggles!"

Olive in Springtime

I wore this outfit for Easter Sunday.  I got this pretty olive dress on Black Friday a few years ago at Anthropologie.  It's actually two pieces: a crop top and full skirt, although I haven't worn it separately.  I think this olive color is pretty season-less.  In the past few years, I've worn this dress for a winter holiday party, a spring rehearsal dinner, and a summertime wedding.  Oh and it has pockets!  Perfect for carrying tissues or lip gloss.  Hope you all had wonderful holiday weekends!  Tomorrow I'll be sharing my sisters' Easter looks.  So be sure to check back for that!
