Navy Stripes

This outfit is almost entirely Old Navy - all except the accessories. I've talked before about how much I like Old Navy for casual clothes. They have so many can't styles and you can't beat the price with the frequent sales they run.

I wore this a few weeks ago for church and a relaxed BBQ at our house.  It's a simple outfit but feels put together with the bright purse and gold accents in the necklace and shoes.  I felt like me in it, which is really important in this postpartum phase.

J Brand Maternity Brooke Boot Cut Jeans

I am lucky to have two older sisters that were recently pregnant who generously shared their maternity clothes with me.  It was a ton of fun sorting the bags, trying on clothes and thinking about the upcoming months.  Thanks Anne & Theresa!

The one thing I did decide to get new was some pants.  I wear jeans often and have heard lots of good things about the maternity jeans from J Brand, so when I saw they were on sale at Gilt.com, I quickly ordered a couple pairs.  The first pair to arrive were these Mama J Brooke Boot Cut jeans, which I have been wearing tons since they arrived.  Last week (at 19 weeks) was the last week when I could wear my regular jeans without a belly band.  These jeans have been so comfy I haven't even tried the belly band again.  I can't wait until the skinny jeans I ordered arrive!  I definitely recommend J Brand maternity jeans - especially if you can find them at Gilt.  With the Gilt price plus a special 2 day 20% off coupon, I ordered 3 pairs of jeans for $200, which is about the normal price for one pair.  The jeans are really comfortable with just the right amount of stretch, a higher raise in the back and elastic panels in place of the front pockets, plus the length is perfect.  I never wore J Brand jeans in the past, but based on how much I like these maternity jeans, I will definitely be looking to add a pair or two of regular J Brands after the baby comes!

Tweed Vest

So nearly all of my shopping this month has been at Old Navy, which you'll see in my budget post for the month (first one since July!).  They've had a lot of the fall classics that I've been wanting for the new season - like the plaid shirt I wore last week and this tweed puffer vest.  The vest and pockets are lined with fleece so it is extra warm.  I had my eye on it back in September (and even mentioned it in a blog post here), but it quickly sold out.  When I was back in stock a few weeks ago, I scooped it up.  It's out of stock again in the black and white, although there are a few left in the khaki tweed.  I'll try to keep an eye out and update this if they restock them because it is a great vest!

Rustic

My husband snapped these pictures before we headed out to our church's Irish themed centennial celebration this weekend.  Since it was an Irish festival, I wore this blue-green plaid shirt that I recently picked up at Old Navy.  Jon said my outfit looked rustic with the plaid shirt and suede boots, but that my purse didn't quite fit with the leather and gold hardware.  Looking at these pictures, I can see what he was saying, although I don't mind.  This satchel has definitely been my  go-to this fall - the size is perfect for everyday and the cognac color goes easily with most outfits.

Fall Staple: Ankle Boots

Between the weather cooling off and the leaves falling down, it really started feeling like fall this weekend!   One of my favorite fall staples are ankle boots.  I love these casual light brown booties from LC Lauren Conrad.  These are from last year, but this year's version is just as cute!  Another fall (and wintertime) staple is a cozy, knit sweater.  I picked this one up at Old Navy over the weekend.  Super warm and cozy - I definitely recommend it!

Puffer Vest & Boat Shoes

Our weekends lately have been super casual, full of settling in, running errands, and having friends and family over the house.  I layered a brown puffer vest over a lightweight gray sweatshirt and black tank for a day running around.  The sun was in and out of the sky so it was nice to have a vest to keep my core warm while the weather varied.  Easy outfit for early fall!

Drapey Pants

Here's another outfit I wore on our trip to San Francisco.  I shared it the day I wore it on Instagram - click here to see it and make sure to follow me for updates!  These drapey pants were a pretty good option for the weather that day, which varied a lot over the course of the day.  After a tasty breakfast at The Grove near our hotel, we went to the California Academy of Sciences.  They had a few really cool exhibits - a huge rainforest and an earthquake simulation.  We took these pictures on the roof which had a bunch of domes and was covered in a huge garden.  I went with a classic black, white, and cognac outfit.  The striped tee and structured tote kept the drapey pants from going too casual.  The lightweight material worked well during the cooler morning and also when the sun came out in the afternoon.  Are you a fan of the slouchy pants that have been pretty big this spring/summer?  I obviously am!  Love em in solids and prints - like my pineapple pants!

Pineapple Pants

So I am kind of obsessed with these pineapple print pants!  I got them a few months ago when the Peter Som for Kohl's line first came out.  I wore them for the first time this weekend and loved wearing them!  I definitely anticipate wearing them a ton this summer because they are super comfortable and the print is so fun.  I like that it has a solid base (black) so it keeps them from being too loud.  I got a ton of compliments from friends and random strangers, which was fun! It got very warm so I ended up wearing this outfit mainly without the jacket and with the shirt untucked.  It was perfect for a casual housewarming party we attended for friends in Baltimore!

Pink Stripes & Flats

This is the type of outfit I wear a ton in the spring and summer.  A bright, pretty dress with a lightweight structured jacket.  Then I change out the accessories.  Here I did casual python print sandals (which I need to replace) with a sparkly gold clutch and delicate jewelry.  On Mother's Day I wore a similar outfit but with a bigger bag and cutout heels.  It's an easy formula that you can dress up for fancier events or down for more casual days.

Mother's Day

We had such gorgeous weather this weekend.  It was so nice to get to be outside to enjoy it!  This dress might be my favorite Kohl's find.  I love the minty green color beneath the lace overlay and the fit is perfect!  Another reason I will always love this dress is because I wore it for my surprise bridal shower last year, which was another beautiful day!  This time I paired it with a coral statement necklace and cutout sandals for a beautiful Mother's Day yesterday.  We started the day with a lovely brunch at my in-laws.  Then I saw my mom and sister in the play Barnum, which was a lot of fun.  Afterwards we went back for swimming and a barbecue at my parents' house.  Such a nice day!

Super Spring Saturday

There were over ten major spring festivals this past Saturday, so uwishunu dubbed it Super Spring Saturday  I hit the Rittenhouse Row Festival and then the South Street Festival with some awesome friends!  Flat shoes were a must since I knew we'd be walking a bunch and I didn't want to tire out my calves before the Broad Street Run on Sunday.  I love the bright pink front of these TKEES flip flops. They were a fun pop with the geometric black and white print top and jean jacket.

Soft pants and accessories were on my mind this month.  I also wanted to use some giftcards that had been burning a hole in my wallet.  (I also got these satin pajamas from Victoria's Secret with a giftcard - which I love!)  A lot of these pieces got a lot of wear on our trip to London and Barcelona - particularly the soft black pants, mint bag, and leopard Sperry's.  The white blazer has been a great basic.  Now I want to get a coral one!
