Mother's Day in Milly for Kohl's

Springtime has been such a nice time to have a baby.  We've been enjoying eating on the patio and taking walks around the neighborhood and nearby trails.  Mother's Day this past Sunday was another beautiful day.  After breakfast in bed and a gift from Jon and Ethan (a Kindle Paperwhite - perfect for all of the time I have spent nursing), we went to mass (Ethan slept soundly in his seat the whole time) and then spent the day barbecuing with our families.  Ethan looked adorable in a 1st Mother's Day onesie from my friend, Nicole.  I especially love the little bow tie!  

I wore this printed caftan from the Milly for DesigNation line at Kohl's (for part of the day - having a newborn means multiple outfit changes for both baby and mommy).  I ran out one night to try on a few items from the line.  In addition to the tunic, I also ended up getting the striped shirt dress and this fun tie-dye maxi.  I also really like these scuba dresses and skirts and still might order this one or this one if they stay available and the price drops some.

Introducing Ethan Charles

Our beautiful little boy made his big arrival last Thursday, April 16th! Ethan entered the world one week past his due date, weighing 8 pounds 5 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long. Jonathan and I are so thrilled that he is here; we have been loving getting to know him better each day!

Blog posts will probably continue to be sporadic for the near future as we start to settle into a new routine as a family of three. I hope you will stick around anyway! I am looking forward to sharing a little more about the baby, as well as my experiences with navigating post-partum/new mom style. 

Side note - I didn't get a chance to check out the Lilly for Target collection, but I did scope out the Milly for Kohls collection today and I am loving it! I ordered a few items and I am looking forward to reviewing them when they arrive! (Kohls tip - I rarely buy items in the store because the prices are the same online and I can always find free shipping codes and at least 15% off coupons and often 30% off coupons online.)

It's a BOY!! My mom got us this adorable ornament for Christmas, so I took a picture of it on our Christmas tree with the cute little booties I picked up at Old Navy earlier in the fall.  We saw our little one on the ultrasound a few weeks ago and found out that we'll be having a boy!  We are so excited to meet our son in a few short months!

Halloween 2014 + Exciting News!

Here's Jon and I at my sister's annual Halloween party this weekend!  Since I'm only about 4 months, I had to embellish my baby bump a little bit for the costume.  I went as a 50s housewife and Jon went as the mailman.  It was a fun and cheeky way to incorporate the pregnancy into the holiday!  We got a few good laughs and it was an easy costume to put together.  I got the idea from Pinterest, of course!

Housewarming Party Ideas

Jon and I are having a little housewarming party next weekend, so I've been busy making lists and scouring Pinterest to get some ideas.  I have been slacking with getting outfit pictures this week, so I thought I'd share some of my ideas for the party instead!

Food Ideas:
Since we're doing an open house and people will be coming and going all day, we're planning on having a bunch of appetizers and finger foods that we can easily pull out or pop in the oven, like the ones below.  For the main meal around dinnertime, Jon is going to barbecue up some burgers and hot dogs and we'll have pasta salad and potato salad.  Time to hit up Costco this weekend!

Drink Ideas: 
As far as drinks, we'll mainly be doing soda, beer, and wine. (Here's a good pin about how much to buy for 10-20-30 people.) We got these cute handled mason jars of Craigslist (like pin #2 below), which I think we'll use for spiced apple cider out of our beverage container.  We may make a warm version, too.  I'm not sure if we'll do the pumpkin cooler below but I think it is so cute and festive!

So I am not sure how much extra decorating we'll actually be doing since we're still finishing settling in.  But these fall ideas below are really cute!

Big News: We Got a House!

We settled on our first home this weekend!  I wanted to wait until it was official to say anything just in case it didn't go through.  But we closed just in time for our first anniversary, which is today!  :-) Settlement was on Friday, which was a super hot day around 93 and humid, so I went with an easy loose aztec tank and white jean shorts. (My rule on white is to go with the weather rather than the whole after Labor Day thing.)  I'll probably be pretty quiet on the blog this next week because we'll be spending a lot of time packing up the apartment for the big move on Saturday.  Follow me on Instagram if you want to keep up!
