Outerwear Shopping

This week has been pretty crazy and I haven't been home early enough for outfit pictures.  So instead of an outfit post today, I thought I'd post some of my favorite coats, jackets, and vests that are currently for sale.  I love a nice piece of outerwear; it can really pull an outfit together or serve as a statement piece.   Even though I have plenty of coats, there is something about the weather cooling down and the seasons changing that makes me want to look for a new one - at the right price, of course!  Here's some of the ones I'm shopping at a few different stores:

LOFT
Snow Leopard Print Car Coat ($168),   Polka Dot Quilted Vest ($80),   Plaid Blazer ($72)

KOHL'S - plus save 30% with promo code TREAT30 & Kohl's charge - or 15% using LEAVES15 without Kohl's charge
Elle Checkered Faux-Fur Wool-Blend Coat ($126),   Jennifer Lopez Faux-Leather Moto Vest ($45),   Elie Tahari Tweed Bomber ($90)

Big News: We Got a House!

We settled on our first home this weekend!  I wanted to wait until it was official to say anything just in case it didn't go through.  But we closed just in time for our first anniversary, which is today!  :-) Settlement was on Friday, which was a super hot day around 93 and humid, so I went with an easy loose aztec tank and white jean shorts. (My rule on white is to go with the weather rather than the whole after Labor Day thing.)  I'll probably be pretty quiet on the blog this next week because we'll be spending a lot of time packing up the apartment for the big move on Saturday.  Follow me on Instagram if you want to keep up!

Lace Peplum & Gold Details

It has been such a hectic but exciting week, which led to me being quieter around here than usual.  I expect to be getting back to normal posting now.  (And I look forward to sharing some exciting house news once it's official!)  The summer food drive started at work this week.  You can wear jeans each day you donate a food item.  My mom got me these Banana Republic jeans for Christmas a few years ago and they have held up really well.  They are perfect for work because of the straight, not too fitted leg.  I wore them with an ivory peplum top and navy cardigan that I had last paired together in the wintertime (see it here).  This time I wanted to bring out the gold accents on the sweater, bag, and shoes, so I wore my gold bib necklace and drop earrings.  The sweater was perfect for the strong AC at work, but I quickly took it off when I was outside because it has been warm here lately! (Although I am not complaining, I love it!)

White & Black with Florals

The weather has been all over the place this week.  I wore this outfit to work the other day when it was super hot, so I quickly snapped these pics out on the balcony.  Ignore the watering can.  Jon has been working hard this spring and summer on growing some herbs and plants in pots on our balcony.  Our herbs are doing really well and so are the peppers, but it looks like our tomatoes may have drowned in some super heavy rain we had last week.  I'm looking forward to all the fresh veggies we'll have in the future when we get a house and have a real garden! So back to the outfit.  I felt like wearing these slouchy pants from Loft.  It's hard to tell in the pictures but they have a little bit of shine to them because they're satin crepe, which combined with the pleating makes them dressier despite the loose fit.  I paired the, with this floaty floral top and my trusty ivory blazer.  Side note:  Blogging has helped me recognize some holes in my closet lately - need to get another light or bright colored blazer and a few new knee-length skirts.

Pineapple Pants

So I am kind of obsessed with these pineapple print pants!  I got them a few months ago when the Peter Som for Kohl's line first came out.  I wore them for the first time this weekend and loved wearing them!  I definitely anticipate wearing them a ton this summer because they are super comfortable and the print is so fun.  I like that it has a solid base (black) so it keeps them from being too loud.  I got a ton of compliments from friends and random strangers, which was fun! It got very warm so I ended up wearing this outfit mainly without the jacket and with the shirt untucked.  It was perfect for a casual housewarming party we attended for friends in Baltimore!

Floral & Maroon

I decided I wanted to wear my maroon pants yesterday and then worked from there to put together this outfit.  I last wore them in March in a neutral early spring outfit.  This time I decided to go even more spring-like with this flowy floral top and pale pink sweater.   It was a warm day so I went with my open toe wedges. (Love these wedges by the way.  I bought at the Lilly Pulitzer Warehouse Sale a year or two ago and I have worn them on a ton since I got them.  Very comfortable and pair well with everything.)  I grounded the outfit with my cognac MK satchel.  The gold details on the purse tie into gold accents on the shoes.  I had planned to take these pictures outside, but a shower was passing through after work, so I had to stay inside.  This outfit works with a pretty basic formula:  interesting top, completer piece (cardigan), neutral pants, shoes with a little detail, and classic accessories.  It's the formula used often on What Not to Wear.  Jodie Noted has a really nice post about this formula with examples.  Check it out here!

Super Spring Saturday

There were over ten major spring festivals this past Saturday, so uwishunu dubbed it Super Spring Saturday  I hit the Rittenhouse Row Festival and then the South Street Festival with some awesome friends!  Flat shoes were a must since I knew we'd be walking a bunch and I didn't want to tire out my calves before the Broad Street Run on Sunday.  I love the bright pink front of these TKEES flip flops. They were a fun pop with the geometric black and white print top and jean jacket.

White Blazer

I wore this white H&M blazer with boyfriend jeans and pumps for dinner in Barcelona.  They eat dinner later there than we are used to, generally around 9pm or 10pm.  We ate outside at a plaza off of Las Ramblas, which is one of the most famous attractions in Barcelona.  It's a long street with lots of live entertainment, shopping, and dining.  There was a cool breeze, so I threw on my leopard scarf for some extra warmth and my little pink bag for another color.

Pink & Silver

Easy look for work.  I wore a comfy lightweight pink sweater with a snake-print textured open cardigan, basic black work pants, and taupe kitten heels.  I originally tried it with a gold necklace but I decided to pair it instead with my silver fringe necklace.  I really like this light pink and silver color combination. (I also wore this same color combo here.)  Comfortable weekday outfit!

Dinner Outfit: Silk Cami, Dark Jeans, & Leopard Heels

I wore this look on Wednesday night for restaurant week dinner with my sister, Mary Beth.   This is our third time going out for restaurant week.  It's nice to catch up over a three or four course meal and it's fun to try a new restaurant.  We went to a.kitchen, an upscale, casual American restaurant right near Rittenhouse Square.   I wore a silk cami with a pale pink cardigan, a leaf necklace, dark jeans and leopard heels.

Black White & Silver Aztec

Yesterday was mainly spent relaxing with some running and cleaning mixed in.  We went to Southwark in Bella Vista for a late dinner.  My steamed clams were delicious and I love the intimate 1920s vibe there.  Jon pointed out that it's nice there are no TVs.  They have a nice selections of wine, bourbon, and rye too.  Fortunately it wasn't too cold out.  I wore gray jeggings (although it's hard to tell in these pics.  Still learning my camera.)  with a black and white aztec top, black blazer, silver pumps, hot pink clutch, and white coat on top.  I threw on a black scarf and white hat as we were walking out the door and I wasn't too cold on the walk there.  Kind of hoping we get one big snowstorm and then a mild winter, but we'll see!

Low-Key Fun Date Night

Here's what I wore for date night with my hubby.  We just got married in September and have had a busy few months.  It's nice to have an easy Friday night -  romantic dinner at home (beef stir fry yum!), catching up on Parks and Rec, and soon heading out to catch up with some friends.

I've been loving the Kohl's lines this fall - especially the Catherine Malandrino for Design Nation and the LC Lauren Conrad lines.  This faux-leather skirt is from the Catherine Malandrino collection.  I like it with this blue silk blouse and suede wedges for a date night or with a sweater and boots during the day.  Tights are basically a must now in Philadelphia!
