Five Fall Favorites

Today I'm sharing five of my favorite items for fall:  1. Trenchcoat, 2. Scarf, 3. Layers, 4. Whipped Berries Lipstick, and 5.  Fall Shopping!

A trenchcoat is an essential wardrobe item in my opinion at any time of year, but especially in the transitional periods like fall and spring.  Here I paired it with fall colors in my maroon pants and plaid scarf.  I have started building a pretty good collection of scarves of the past couple years and I like pulling them out when the weather starts cooling down.

3. Layers!  Since the weather can vary a bunch throughout the day, layers are key.  This time I layered a silk sleeveless blouse (which wrinkled a little by the time I got to take these pictures) with a cropped sweater and long pendant stones necklace.  Then I threw on my plaid scarf and trench for the rainy day.

4.  Mary Kay Whipped Berries Creme Lipstick - love this shade and how creamy it comes on!

5.  Fall shopping!  Fall is definitely my favorite time of year to shop.  I love all of the new vests and coats, plus the boots and booties.  This year I'm looking to replace some of my older cardigans and possibly add another blazer.  I'm definitely looking for a plaid shirt too.  I'm always looking for ways to save money when I'm shopping. Whether I'm shopping online or in store, I always make sure to search for coupons on websites like RetailMeNot.com and FatWallet.com.  I recently heard about another website that can save you money, Raise.com.  It's a site where you can buy and sell gift cards.  I looked quickly and saw that I could save 12% by purchasing a Macy's giftcard and up to 17.5% at H&M.  It's also be a quick way to make money if you're sitting on giftcards you don't expect to use.

Pink Watercolor

So this week has been moving week, hence the silence on the blog! I wanted to get at least one outfit post in, so here's one last set of photos from the apartment. I love this silk pink watercolor top that I got from the Elie Tahari outlet a few months ago. I always get compliments when I wear it. This time I wore it for work with a pale pink cardigan, brown trousers, low-heeled beige pumps, and rose gold cluster pearl earrings.

Things with the move have been going pretty well.  We're mostly settled in downstairs in the kitchen, family room, and dining room.  The upstairs is another story though.  I can't wait to unpack my clothes this weekend!  I have been living half out of a suitcase for the past week or so, which isn't something I even like to do when I'm on vacation.  I'm hoping I'll get some new creative outfit ideas while I'm unpacking.  I may do a little bit of shopping this weekend.  I haven't bought anything since June and I definitely have my eye on a few things!  Like this cute tweed vest from Old Navy.

Rainy Day

There's something about rainy spring days that makes me want to wear bright colors.  This pink top was a recent purchase.  I really like the subtle pattern, plus the keyhole neckline.  I definitely think it will be getting a lot of wear this summer!  I paired it with my basic black pencil skirt and a structured white jacket for work.  I've had this jacket for years.  I remember it being a bit of a splurge at the time but I recognized that the quality material, classic shape, and interesting details would make it a piece I would wear for years and I definitely have!  You can really find some great things at Banana Republic.  I've had a number of things from there for years and they are still in excellent condition.  Are there any stores you would recommend for quality clothes?  Share in the comments!

Tipped & Stripes

Thursday was one of those days where I found myself reaching for basics.  I hadn't worn this striped top in a while so I pulled it out.  I really like the graduated stripes, how they start out more spread apart near the neckline and then get closer together toward the bottom of the shirt.  I was debating between this maroon blazer or my red one and Jon voted for this one.  It was so nice to have a sunny afternoon after so much rain!  Looks like this weekend will be nice and warm too, with good weather for the Broad Street Run on Sunday morning!  I'm working on a post about running, so look for that soon!

Green Buttondown & Leopard Heels

Comfortable work outfit on a very rainy day.  I wore this crepe green buttondown with my stone pendant jewelry and basic cropped pants.  I wore my leopard flax pumps instead of the plain black one for a little bit of pattern.  It was super rainy all day so outdoor pictures were not possible.  Praying for all those dealing with much worse weather than just rain recently.

Cropped Pants:  Express (similar, splurge)
Shoes:  Nine West Mad Cat Leopard Flax Pumps, Macy's (similar - diff animal print)
